Hi and thanks for visiting my blog on building blocks in the built environment. Here you will find my personal views and lots of information on a variety of topics, all related to the planning, designing, building and ownership of a house in South Africa.

My name is Marcel Theron and I reside in Pretoria, South Africa. I am retired now after a career spanning more than 35 years in the civil engineering and built environments. 

Through the years I have gained substantial skills and experience, which I present here to all that may be interested, as various building blocks in this home ownership blog.

The building blocks presented in BuildingBlog.net have been crafted to be mostly applicable to the South African built environment.

Please note that I have started this blog only recently and that work is still in progress. New posts will appear regularly. In the meantime, comments, proposals and questions from the ‘Contact’ page are welcome.
